Take a hike

"... thinking is generally thought of as doing nothing in a production-oriented culture, and doing nothing is hard to do. It's best done by disguising it as doing something, and the something closest to doing nothing is walking."

Rebecca Solnit in Wanderlust: A History of Walking.

You're right, it does. Maybe some one should write A History of Running!

Hey there, this isn't related to your post, but I am sure I took an anthropology course with you at UP Diliman over a decade ago, when I was a confused and young Fil Am exchange student from Berkeley. I wanted to say hello! Cheers, Barbara Jane Reyes

Hi Barbara! Yes we were classmates in an anthro class taught by Jocano Jr, back when I was a young and confused freshman from Baguio. I can't recall what class it was exactly but I still vividly remember your tattoos (I was hugely impressed) and you giving a forceful report on feminism and the Tagalog language (which also made a huge impression on me). How nice to 'see' you again!

Hoy Nash, soon I'll put up pictures of forested land bought up by the Ayalas and allegedly soon to be turned into a call center. Sorry nalang kay Henry Sy, they beat him to that prime spot!

Frankie, there's another book on walking that's on the tip of my tongue... Now I won't be able to rest until I remember what that book is... If I remember right it's about walking obssessively...
